Jennifer Schoen has spoken to audiences around Washington state and across the country. She has mentored hundreds of students, helping them write about their unique selves in their college and scholarship application essays.

Jennifer speaks from over 20 years of experience in higher education working with high school and college students. Her presentations are interactive, filled with humor and insight into what admissions and scholarship review committees are looking for. She is both informative and entertaining, and as one guidance counselor said, “She really speaks their language,” the language of high school students.

Jennifer’s positive upbeat attitude has made her a favorite presenter at the National College Fair in Seattle, where she has presented her “Fantastic Four Tips to Writing a Great Personal Statement” for the past 5 years.

A sample of Jennifer’s presentation topics include:

  • Preparing for College – class selection, involvement in activities, and an overview of financial aid and scholarships.
  • Time Management Skills – overcoming procrastination, creating good study habits, prioritizing, and goal setting.
  • The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator – covering the basics of communication based on type, Learning Styles using type, and leadership and decision making for organizations.
  • Encouraging College Aspirations in High School – differences between high school graduation and college entrance requirements, understanding the importance of the college application writing section, the importance of relentless optimism.

Jennifer tailors her talks to the needs of her audience and her hosts. She has presented to 8th grade students, college students, parents, and high school and scholarship staff and administrators.
